Early childhood education is a very hot topic now-a-days. This is probably due to the fact that it is so important. I mean, you are basically laying the foundation for a child for the rest of his or her life. However, this article is going to be going a bit deeper in the process of early childhood education and looking at the people who truly help in the child’s development, the teachers.
It takes a very special person to become a teacher in this field. You have to love playing with children, you have to be able to talk and listen to what the children are saying and most importantly, you have to be able to help the children develop along the way.
Of course, being an early childhood educator is a very rewarding career. Luckily, you have a lot of career options. For example, you can work as a pre-school teacher, a kindergarten teacher and an elementary teacher.
All of these careers are absolutely fantastic and rewarding. However, it is important to note that you will have to acquire the proper credentials in order to obtain these types of jobs.
The general consensus is that you have to obtain an associates degree in early childhood education but really you won’t be able to get a decent job now-a-days without a bachelors degree. However, if you really have the drive and dedication to this subject then I suggest you shoot for a masters degree. From here you options open up and the world is your oyster so to speak.
You can expect a salary between $35,000 to $45,000 as an early childhood educator. You can also earn more money during summer vacation by tutoring or picking up a part time job. However, for a lot of people in this field money isn’t the real issue. They really enjoy what they do so going to work every day is like a dream.
Remember, this career isn’t for everyone. It is recommended that you do a healthy dose of soul searching before you commit to anything. This career may seem like fun from an outsiders perspective but it is actually a lot of hard work. Typically, the people who perform best in this field are the ones that have a lot of patience and truly love children.
I hope that this has been an informative article. My goal was to teach you something about ECE and I feel I have achieved that goal. Good luck!
